WAGGL Results 21st April 2012
Despite calls of “ya peaked too early!” resonating from the bar and echoing across the practice green to the 18th hole, Matt “Bagooki” Baginski has fired a 6-under par 65 to claim his second win of the WAGGL season at Maylands on Saturday. Suited by the handicaps and a small field of 6, Bagooki led all the way in the final official lead-up event before this weekend’s inaugural WAGGL Open to record a commanding 8 shot victory over Alex “Scammer” Carter, who shot a solid 2-over par 73.
“Closest to Pin” and “Longest Drive” were both carryover jackpots. With a deadly launch at the par-3 5th by Jason “Aravinda” De Silva (who arrived in style in his mum’s hyundai) took out the CTP honours, and a Travis “T Rav J“ Jobe bullet on the par-5 18th snaring LD spoils to ensure both golfers went home with their pockets lined and allow Jason to put some petrol in his sweet ride.
In other news, tournament organisers have advised that both days of the Open are now officially sold-out, with the remaining general admission tickets being sold yesterday by late afternoon. The event can be seen live on Channel 9, with coverage commencing at 7:00am before the start of each day’s play.
